COVID 19 - April 2, 2020 - update

The Doctors at North Woodlands Medical Centre have decided to

offer patients phone, email and potentially video appointments for the next 1-2 months due to COVID 19. If you have a prebooked appointment in the next 2 months you may receive a call to either cancel, rebook or postpone.

We will first be in touch with all high risk patients ie those who are immunosuppressed, anyone over age 60 or anyone else we have specific concerns about. We will be cancelling all routine appointments such as well person physicals during this time.

You will be able still to have requests for screening testing done by phone or email. Scripts will continue to be repeated as usual by pharmacy fax request. The office will be open but please do not drop in especially if you are ill. Please call first 519-759-6116

Please check this website frequently for updates as this pandemic is fluid and information changes daily.

We currently are not offering COVID 19 testing at this site.

Covid testing is current done at the Brantford General Hospital at the Covid Assessment Clinic in D wing. This is NOT  a drop in clinic.

Patients need to call to book appointments and usually only after you have had an assessment. Call us during office hours if you feel you may have COVID. Do the ministry on line personal assessment first, the link is:

https://covid-19.ontario.ca/self-assessment/

We ask all employers to be mindful about note requests for work absense, common sense should prevail as demands for patients to be physically seen in a pandemic is not practical or safe.

Prescription Renewals:

An appointment is not always needed to renew a routine prescription, your pharmacy can fax us and we will  assess the request and refill the prescription if appropriate. This SERVICE if for routine medications only, DO NOT ASK THE PHARMACY TO REFILL SCRIPTS FOR ANTIBIOTICS THAT YOU MAY HAVE HAD IN THE PAST OR MEDICATIONS YOU HAVE NOT USED IN THE LAST YEAR.

PLEASE NOTE: This is not an instant service or necessarily even same day. Our policy is that we will refill the prescription in up to 2 business days. We receive hundreds of requests most days between the 6 of us. It is your responsibility to keep track of your prescriptions and ask for repeats in a timely manner.

This is currently a free service for rostered patients. However, we reserve the right to charge a fee for this service in the future should there be a material change in our working agreement with the Ontario Government.

Tests and treatments you may not need

Choosing Wisely Canada - new web site to help physicians and patients engage in conversations about unnecessary tests, treatments and procedures and to help make smart and effective choices to ensure high-quality care.

Unnecessary tests, treatments and procedures do not add value to care. In fact, they potentially expose patients to harm, lead to more testing to investigate false positives results and contribute to stress and avoidable costs for patients.
